Having hosted more than 1000 weddings over two decades, Waterside Events at Currumbin RSL has well and truly established its standing as a ceremony and reception space, and it’s an accomplishment that Natalie Gausden, and her dedicated Events Team, are justifiably proud of.

“We strive to create a comfortable and collaborative environment, ensuring that a couple's wishes are understood and fulfilled to create a truly memorable celebration,” Natalie says.

She took ABIA on a tour of the lovely location, to talk menus, must-haves and what it takes to make ‘unforgettable’ wedding days.

Tell us about your venue and wedding services?

Our venue and location are designed to make each wedding day unforgettable. We pride ourselves on attention to detail, commitment to quality, and professional service. We can accommodate all types of wedding styles and our goal is to exceed each couple’s expectations by creating an enchanting atmosphere and memories that will be cherished for years to come.

How long have you been hosting weddings? How many have you hosted?

We have been hosting weddings since 2002 and, to date, we have successfully hosted more than 1000 weddings in the Waterside Events wedding space.

What styles of weddings can you accommodate? And for what event sizes?

We can accommodate various styles of weddings, including cocktail, plated, buffet, and seated receptions. Our venue is capable of hosting events with up to 600 guests. We also offer offsite event options.

What spaces do you have available for wedding ceremonies and receptions?

For wedding ceremonies we offer either a picturesque creekside location or a waterfront verandah with stunning views.
For receptions, we have a deck that overlooks the water, a spacious function area that can accommodate up to 600 guests, and an ambient waterfront verandah.

What packages do you offer? What’s included?

We offer a variety of wedding packages, designed to cater to different preferences and budgets, from our outdoor ceremony package — which includes exclusive use of our outdoor undercover sandstone area with its uninterrupted waterfront views — through to assorted reception packages, with flexible food and beverage packages, that include the following as standard:

How far in advance should couples book?

We recommend couples book our services six to 12 months in advance to secure their desired date and ensure ample time for planning. Our dedicated Events Team also happily accommodate last-minute requests, when availability allows.

What advice do you have for couples looking for a Wedding Venue? What should they consider?

First and foremost, it's essential for a couple to consider pricing to ensure that it aligns with their budget. Location is another crucial factor, as it should be convenient for both the couple and their guests. The venue’s ‘first impression’ sets the tone for the entire event, so that should also be taken into account, together with capacity, amenities, flexibility, and any specific requirements.

What makes your venue unique?

Our recently-renovated waterfront location, which provides both convenience and stunning views, is an obvious stand out. As is our dedicated Events Team, which consists of an Event Planner, a Logistics Manager, and an Events Executive, to ensure personalised attention and seamless coordination.

We also take pride in preparing all food onsite, ensuring fresh and delectable meals.

How can couples add their own flair? Do you have suppliers you recommend?

Yes, we encourage couples to add their own unique flair — whether that means personalising the decor, incorporating specific themes or cultural elements, or arranging special activities — and we are dedicated to making the event truly reflective of their style and preferences.

Additionally, we have a network of trusted suppliers that we can recommend — including florists, photographers, DJs, and more — to help enhance the overall experience and ensure a seamless wedding day.

What photographic opportunities are available at, and around, the venue?

Our onsite locations offer some spectacular views and backdrops and there are more stunning opportunities for photographs, within Currumbin Valley, and at charming bridges, waterfront areas and beaches nearby.
