5 Tips for getting on top of your Social Media.

1. Set up an Editorial Calendar

If you aren’t posting updates regularly (Industry Pro’s recommend 3 times per week minimum), set up a social media editorial calendar with content ideas planned two weeks to a month in advance to help keep you on track and your content current.

What if you don’t have time to write new posts daily? Set aside 1 hour each week to write all of your updates, then use a scheduling tool like Later to schedule them for the week.

2. Use LOTS of visuals.

Couples love to see lots of photos. Be it on Instagram, Pinterest or another image-based platform, they like to imagine themselves getting married at that place or utilising those products or services.

They imagine all of their ideas coming together. If you are seen to be posting different styles, there’s a strong chance that one of those styles is perfect for them. If they can see that your venue/service is able to cater for this then they’ve pretty much already decided they want to book you before they’ve even contacted you!

Be sure to add video content to your social media repertoire, consumers (especially next gen) expect (slash demand) brands to deliver engaging, entertaining content on social media more than ever before, and video is one of the most effective formats to do so.

3. Link Blog Posts

Sharing resources with your audience is always appreciated and can lead to more shares for your posts. Leveraging your experience and expertise by writing content (e.g., most common questions or tips and tricks) for your captivated audience is a great way to build trust and credibility with followers.

Blogs are also terrific in that they can be recycled year after year as chances are the content is still relevant and your new followers would not have had viewed your old content.

Linking to these past blog posts is a great way to reuse your content while still keeping your social media updates fresh. What if you don’t have a blog? Sharing other’s content is also a great idea. Make sure to tag or mention them in the post as well for networking purposes.

4. Link & Share the BAG competition

There’s no point having a page with lots of likes but no one is interacting with it. Why not let (or remind) your followers that you are participating in ABIA’s National Wedding Competition. Let your followers know that they can enter for a chance to win $10,000 in wedding cash to put toward their big day.

Ask your followers how they would spend the money and whether you can help them bring their wedding dreams to life. This will also give you a chance to reach new people. Be sure to use the correct hashtags to garner as much traction as possible #winwithabia

5. Weekly Themes

Here at ABIA, we continuously marvel at the creativity and brilliance of wedding vendors when it comes to social media content. We see florists posting weekly colour palette guides, hairdressers releasing top trends, DJ’s sharing links to dance routines or even a menswear boutique posting images of a different pair of wedding shoes each week.

Is there something that you could post each week that would inspire and connect with your audience? Don’t be scared, dip your toe, and see what resonates.

Let us know what you think and why not focus on 1 of these ideas to build engagement this week. It’s never too late to build your brand, attract more followers and get noticed. Most importantly, have fun with it! 😊
