A Rainy Wedding with Ruth Matos, Sydney Celebrant at Belgenny Farm

A real wedding with Bianca and Cody.

Belgenny Farm is a gorgeous outdoor ceremony venue, but this particular afternoon saw dark clouds rolling in and rain on the way. The nervous groom had to make the final call and, within 10 minutes, all the vendors had pulled together to make sure that "Plan B" was in place.

The ceremony

The ceremony was held in a small hall on the property. Filled with all the flowers from the original ceremony space, the hall looked amazing, and when it was filled with all the guests, it became a really beautiful and intimate space.

Belgenny Farm have covered all their bases, and they were ready to move the ceremony at a moment’s notice. Their Sydney celebrant, Ruth Matos, says she was really impressed by their organisation of this particular venue.

At Bianca & Cody’s Wedding, they chose their mums to be their witnesses and this was a surprise too, that we kept until the moment itself.

There were two readings, one by Cody’s nan and the other by Bianca’s godmother; two people who meant a lot to the couple. Their ceremony was personal and the intimacy of holding the wedding in a small hall just added to these special moments.

What’s a ceremony with Ruth look like?

Ruth’s Wedding Ceremonies across Sydney are all very personal and she loves that her couples have a huge input in the content the style of each ceremony.

She will always encourage her couples to write their own vows and keep them as a secret until the ceremony – “it just makes it really special & raw”.

At a typical ceremony with Ruth, she will introduce their “story” which draws the guests in as they want to hear about their journey. It is always light-hearted and fun; there is always a good laugh to be had!

What to do if it rains on my wedding day?

Ruth’s advice to preparing for Wet Weather: “I always warn my couples of all of the possibilities of ALL types of weather.

Being prepared is a must; always have a backup plan, either at the original venue or off-site.

When the ceremony is held in a park or on a beach where there is no sheltered area available, I encourage my couples to contact their reception venue to see, if needed, they would be able to hold the ceremony in the reception space.

When you have a "Plan B", you will relieve yourself of the stress from the one thing you really can't control on the day – the weather!

What are the benefits of a rainy wedding day?

Ruth says the benefits to a rainy wedding day is the coziness and intimacy, and the photos are also amazing.

The clouds bring out amazing features in the photos, and the glistening of the puddles and fresh rain is just gorgeous.

Then there is the added bonus of umbrellas and rain boots as props, which is a photographer's dream!

Review from Cody & Bianca

Cody and I had the absolute honour of having Ruth share our special day with us. Her joyful and warm personality makes you feel as though you are with a long lost friend making every step of the process easy as well as efficient. Ruth truly did make us feel so much more ready and laid back for the day, she is so organised and has everything prepared to make you feel at ease. Although the weather was not on our side for the day, the plan B option was even more special and Ruth made sure of that. Cody and I could not recommend Ruth enough to anyone in need of a celebrant for any occasion. You will not be disappointed with her efficiency and service. Thank you so much for everything Ruth, we cant wait to see our paths cross in the future. Xx
