ABIA talks to the event manager for this Adelaide mobile bar and wedding beverage caterer

Convinced there was room for improvement after planning her own wedding, event manager Sharon jumped at the opportunity of a rescued and revamped vintage caravan, brought back to life with a retro vibe, and today The Speakeasy Hotel, a mobile beverage service catering for weddings and events in Adelaide, continues to receive accolades from clients.

“She’s sassy in pink and lavender, has an exterior fold-out bar and light-up fluorescent ‘BAR’ sign to attract attention,” Sharon says of the well-equipped caravan.

The centrepiece itself has proven popular with Adelaide’s couples, though The Speakeasy Hotel offers a range of all-inclusive, bespoke and BYO beverage packages to cater to the needs of all wedding settings, with or without their mobile bar.

ABIA chatted with Sharon to find out a little more about The Speakeasy Hotel’s detail-oriented approach, flexible beverage catering packages and customised add-ons.

Tell us about your wedding beverage catering service.

We offer premium liquor services for weddings, private parties and public events in and around Adelaide, and our rolling liquor license means we can serve guests at almost any location or venue.
Our mobile bar, The Speakeasy Hotel, is an elegant, art deco inspired caravan bar available for hire. Originally rescued from a caravan boneyard, she’s sassy in pink and lavender, has an exterior fold-out bar and light-up fluorescent ‘BAR’ sign to attract attention.

Additionally, for those who just need a few extra bar staff to serve at their wedding, we have a roster of friendly, experienced, RSA qualified staff who love to work all around South Australia and bring their own bar tools along for the ride.

How did you get started in the wedding industry?

Planning my own wedding made me aware of how many operators were more focused on the dollars than the detail, and I felt there was room to do better, so The Speakeasy Hotel caters to both the delivery and the dream.

What types of beverage catering do you offer?

We serve everything from wine to beer, spirits, cocktails and mocktails. We offer a range of all-inclusive packages and can cater to bespoke themes, plus we also offer extras like cool room hire.

For those who want a little extra flair, we can also custom design a cocktail lounge to provide that exclusive elegance while waiting for the wedding party to return from photos.

Where are you based and what locations do you service?

We’re based in Adelaide and generally service the areas in and around the city, though many of our bar staff are available to work all over South Australia.

What beverage menus and packages do you offer for weddings?

Our ‘all-inclusive’ packages include glassware, ice, bar utensils, ice buckets, set up and pack down and can be tailored to a range of wedding themes and preferences. Couples hiring our mobile bar can also opt to BYO alcohol to help them save on costs. Additionally, we provide ‘service only’ packages for those who just need a few extra bar staff, or specialist cocktail bartenders, to serve at their wedding reception.

Can couples come up with their own drinks' menu and incorporate their own ideas and flair?

Yes, we happily assist couples in creating specially-themed beverage packages and often arrange add-ons, like a gin and tonic bar or whisky experience.

What are your most popular packages and what drinks are trending at weddings at the moment?

Due to the cost of living at the moment our Service Only packages have been proving popular, and our Cocktail Packages are always on-trend, especially as we can create amazing cocktail lounge spaces for that point of difference.

How many guests can you cater for, and typically how many bar staff are provided on the day?

We cater for a range of wedding sizes, from small bespoke celebrations through to large-scale events with more than 1000 guests. Service is paramount, so we ensure sufficient staff are provided for every event, based on numbers.
