It makes a difference when people love what they do, and for Enzo Torresan of E&R Classics his wedding cars and wedding transport service are clearly a passion.
In fact, he restored each of the classic Mercedes Benz SEL vehicles in his fleet by hand.
“One was without an engine when I found it,” he points out. “I love to tinker, and I love this particular Mercedes’ make, so it started as a hobby in my spare time.”
These days the cars are pristinely maintained, and E&R Classics has become a family affair, with Enzo and his sons driving and his wife and daughters attending to the finer details.
We popped into the passenger seat with Enzo to chat bookings, wedding day logistics and going the extra mile.

Tell us about your wedding transport business, and how you got started in the wedding industry.
I’d always liked the shape of the Mercedes Benz SEL, so I started restoring them for pleasure. Once they were finished, my friends and family were so impressed that they started asking to use them for their weddings. In 2017 I decided to formally register my hobby as a business and it’s grown from there.
What cars do you have in your fleet?
I’ve got three cars, all Mercedes Benz 420 SEL models. Two white sedans and one white six-seater stretch limousine.

Where are you based and what locations do you service?
We’re based in the Yarra Valley, but we service the Mornington Peninsula and Greater Melbourne. We’re always open to discussing new pickup locations though, and are honest with our couples about what’s viable.
What’s included in your service?
We tailor each package to suit the needs of each couple and the pickups, number of cars and photography schedule on the day. And we include lots of added extras, like ribbons, a red carpet, and other thoughtful details. When they book with us couples don’t just get cars and drivers — we do everything we can to ensure their wedding day is as perfect as it can be.

Is there an ‘order’ of cars that you suggest?
Usually, for transport to the ceremony, we use one car for the groom and his party, one car for the bride and her parents, and one for the bridal attendants.
Leaving the ceremony, and for driving around for photographs, I usually suggest the wedding couple travel together in a separate car to the wedding party, to allow them some ‘sync time’ together.
What makes your wedding transport service unique?
Our fleet of Mercedes Benz SELs is the only one I’m aware of in the area, but it’s our service that really makes us stand out. Our reviews speak for themselves, but almost always mention my outgoing personality and the amazing service we provide. We’ve even had couples contact us on their first wedding anniversary to say ‘thanks’ again.
I liaise with each couple and their vendors beforehand to help ensure that things on the day run as smoothly as they possibly can. We open doors and pour Prosecco, we’ve got longstanding arrangements that allow us access to more than 300 church grounds, we work with the photographer and videographer to help keep the schedule on track, we’ve developed great relationships with food stops in case the bridal party want a quick snack, and I’ve even been known to sew up a bride’s dress when she ripped it by accident.
I’ve been married for 40 years and still fondly remember my own wedding day, so I go above and beyond to ensure my couples have a wonderful memory of their own.
