A scrumptious morsel of smoked salmon blini, a tantalising new flavour, or a decadent dessert display — weeks, months and years after a wedding reception it’s often the food that guests remember. And a good caterer is key to ensuring those memories are treasured.

Indeed, with over 43,000 events, and more than 17 years of experience across five states, Fabulous Catering certainly seems to live up to its name.

We took a moment with Cassie to talk delivery, dessert and the finer details.

Can you tell us a little about your business and services?

As Australia’s only nationally-licensed catering company — servicing Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide — Fabulous Catering has been creating incredible dining experiences at weddings and events across the country for more than 17 years.

We offer a range of bespoke menu options that can be tailored to suit any budget, dietary requirement and wedding style, from shared grazing platters to indulgent three-course meals.

What types of catering do you offer?

Essentially, the Fabulous Catering team brings the restaurant to your wedding with a portable kitchen, quality equipment, and experienced wait staff, so we can cover all menus, from shared banquets to stand-up canapes (including small bowls) and three-course sit-down meals.

We are able to cater for events of almost any size, from small intimate weddings with 20 people to very large-scale weddings with upwards of  300 guests. In every case, we work with couples to choose the best menu to suit their guests and to select drinks, bar set-up, glassware, and other equipment depending on their preferences and their venue's requirements.

How did Fabulous Catering get started in the wedding industry?

After many years delivering high quality catering services for private and corporate functions, it was a natural progression to develop further into weddings and full-scale event management services. We now have partnerships, ranging from blank canvas venues to wineries, in all states of Australia.

Where are you based and what locations do you service?

Our head office is based in Collingwood, Victoria. From there we travel all over Melbourne and the state’s regional areas. Plus, we have catering kitchens based in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide to service the rest of the nation.

What styles of menu can couples choose from?

Our offering is best described as modern Australian cuisine with a hint of Asian inspiration, and we can customise it to suit almost any occasion. We specialise in gourmet barbeques, shared grazing platters, sit-down meals, buffets, finger food and canapes,  and pride ourselves on using local, quality produce.

What are your most popular menus?

Many couples start with canapes after the ceremony — perhaps featuring arancini, smoked salmon blini, Peking duck pancakes and smoked goat’s curd tartlets — followed by mains served as a shared banquet, with a variety of meat and sides served ‘family-style’ straight to the table.

And, without doubt, the most popular dessert option is our dessert banquet table. These look amazing — almost too good to eat — and are a big hit with guests.

Do you offer bar services?

Yes, we can provide a full bar service, including drink packages, or simply provide the bar service and glassware hire. We offer a range of local and imported wine and beer options, with a focus on small regional wineries, which allows us to provide amazing quality wines to suit any budget. 

Do you cater for allergies and special dietary requirements?

Yes, Fabulous Catering are experts in dietary requirements. We can accommodate a range of allergies, intolerances, and preferences to help ensure no one goes hungry.

How many people can you cater for?

We have catered for small weddings, from 20 guests, through to very large events with more than 300 people in attendance.

How do you source your food?

We have a Head Chef in each state. Together with their kitchen teams,  they each source locally from small suppliers to help ensure the highest quality ingredients.
