Hiring a car for his own wedding in 2014 — an experience he tactfully describes as less-than-perfect — inspired Matt Smith to launch his own premium limousine hire service in Perth, Western Australia.

“With an extensive history in hospitality and customer service I knew I could offer a service that was exceptional,” he says.

Just months after his wedding day, he’d registered a business name and begun building his first modern stretch limousine.

It was the first of many, and thanks to its success Allure Limousines now boasts one of the most extensive fleets in Perth and the largest vintage fleet in Western Australia.

We took a drive with Matt to chat all things wedding transport.

Tell us about your business.

Allure Limousines is a family-owned and operated, premium limousine hire service based in Perth, Western Australia.

We provide chauffeur-driven limousines and luxury vehicles for every occasion, including birthdays, weddings, school balls, sporting events, and corporate and airport transfers.

We pride ourselves on providing an extremely high level of customer satisfaction for the best rates in town.

What cars are currently in your fleet?

We have 13 cars in total, including a 24-seat mega limousine, a 12-seat stretch Jeep Grand Cherokee limousine, three 10-seat Chrysler limousines (including Perth’s only charcoal and burgundy model), and a Mercedes Benz GLS350d.

Our extensive vintage fleet features a range of rare and collectable vehicles, including 1949 and 1950’s Mark V Jaguars, a 1934 REO Speed Wagon, a 1957 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, and a 1951 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith.

Where are you based and what locations do you service?

We're based in the Perth suburb of O'Connor and service the entire metropolitan area. We’ve also been known to travel as far as the Margaret River region.

What is included in your service?

All our vehicles are driven by professional, well-dressed, knowledgeable and attentive chauffeurs, and come complete with a white wedding ribbon, red carpet, champagne glasses, ice and bottled water as standard.

Can alcohol be consumed in the wedding cars?

Due to licensing laws we can’t supply alcohol but, under current regulations, it can be consumed in most of our vehicles if couples wish to supply their own. We carry an Esky in the boot, with extra ice, bottled water and space, so we will happily chill and serve alcohol as regulations allow.

How many cars are needed on the wedding day?

That depends on the size of the bridal party and the aesthetic that a couple are looking for. Our collection of modern and vintage vehicles come in an assortment of seating capacities, so we can easily accommodate most needs and preferences. Many couples choose to hire a combination, using our modern limousines to transport large groups and our vintage cars for the bridal couple, and to feature in photographs.

Can children travel in the cars?

Generally, yes. Under current regulations, a well-adjusted standard seatbelt is considered sufficient for use, in our vehicles, by children of most ages. This is best discussed at the time of booking though to ensure all passengers can be accommodated.

Is there an order of cars? Who travels with who?

On the way to the ceremony, the bridal party travels first with the bride in the last car. After the ceremony, the couple travels first, with the bridal party following.

How far ahead should couples book their wedding cars?

There are a limited number of wedding cars in Perth, particularly vintage wedding cars, so we do recommend couples book as soon as they’ve settled on a date and venue locations.

How many hours should couples book their wedding cars for?

A typical wedding booking is four hours. This generally allows enough time for a vehicle to transfer the first spouse to the ceremony location, pick up the second spouse and convey them to the ceremony, transport the newlyweds and their bridal party for photos and, finally, deliver the entire party to the reception venue.

What makes your service unique?

Our drivers! Like a personal concierge or butler, they’re happy to assist passengers in and out of vehicles, load the bar with additional drinks, and hold bags, dresses and even hands if needed. They’ll adjust interior lighting on request, and know great photo locations, bathroom stops and travel times, so passengers can simply relax.
