“We saw a clear gap in the wedding industry — couples were craving beautiful candlelit styling that didn’t come with mess, waste or safety concerns,” they explain.
Proudly Australian-made and family-owned, the Chameleon team now designs and manufactures their exclusive, non-toxic candle sand, which offers a refined, sustainable alternative to traditional wax candles and elevates wedding decorating with effortless luxury and a healthier and safer styling solution.

Tell us about your business and wedding services.
We are a proudly Australian made and owned business on a mission to redefine the art of illumination. Through our exclusive, non-toxic candle sand, we transform spaces and create inspiring moments of beauty, creativity and connection. Designed to be safe, sustainable and endlessly versatile, our products bring together conscious luxury and creative freedom.
As the manufacturer of our own high-quality candle sand, we offer both a premium full-service styling experience and supply our products through select wholesale and retail channels — serving industry professionals and those in the hospitality sector who value elevated aesthetics, health-safe materials and exceptional quality.
How did you get started in the wedding industry?
Back in 2021, the wedding and events industry was still heavily reliant on traditional pillar candles, which can be messy, wasteful and time-consuming. We recognised the challenges of planners and venues who were faced with constant resets, difficult cleanups and toxic materials that didn’t belong in beautiful spaces.
With our backgrounds in environmental health, we saw the need for something better — a candle that was clean-burning, plant-based, refillable and designed to protect both people and the planet.
Since then, we’ve transformed the industry by introducing premium candle sand — a safer, more sustainable alternative that eliminates wax mess, reduces waste and allows for effortless, elegant styling. What began as a personal mission is now a movement reshaping how we use candlelight.
Today, Chameleon Sand Candle is proudly Australian-made, globally loved and driven by a desire to light up lives, rather than pollute them.

Where are you based and what locations do you service?
Chameleon is based in Perth, and offer premium, white-glove candle styling services for weddings and events held locally, but our premium candle sand is also available to wholesale and retail clients Australia-wide and globally.
What inspired you to create Chameleon Sand Candle?
We recognised a critical gap in the wedding and events industry, whereby traditional candles were widely used, but many contained synthetic dyes and fragrances that posed risks to guest health and compromised the standard of luxury styling.
As an innovative and responsible brand, we felt a moral obligation to lead with safer, smarter alternatives. Our exclusive premium white candle sand is intentionally free from added fragrance and artificial colourants, making it a health-safe, non-toxic solution designed to honour both the beauty of the moment and the wellbeing of every guest.

Why the name 'Chameleon'?
Our candle sand can seamlessly transition from a casual mid-week family dinner candle to an elegant wedding setup - and everything in between - much like the adaptability of a chameleon to its surroundings.
What are the advantages of your candles, from the point of view of weddings? How do they differ from other candle types?
Our candles are unlike anything else in the wedding industry. Instead of traditional wax pillars or tea lights, our exclusive, non-toxic white candle sand offers a safer, cleaner and more refined alternative. Free from fragrance and dyes, it’s healthier for all guests, including children and those with sensitivities. There’s no wax mess or soot, a reduced risk of damage to venues, and every vessel can be styled with precision for a polished, cohesive look.
Our candle sand is RSPO-certified, biodegradable and home-compostable, making it a conscious choice for modern weddings. Can you supply vessels for the candle sand?
Yes, we supply all vessels as part of our white-glove styling service in Perth, using a curated range of glass cylinders from 10cm to 68cm in height to create layered, atmospheric light. Every setup is fully managed and styled to perfection, meaning there’s no need to source or clean a thing.
For retail customers, we also offer a selection of revalued, repurposed glass vessels via our website, which are ideal for those wishing to enjoy our signature, sustainable candlelight experience at home.
How can couples personalise your candles to suit their wedding style or theme?
Couples can personalise their candle styling through our extensive Candle Menu, which features a curated range of premium vessel styles, sizes and formats, designed to create layered light and match any wedding aesthetic. At what stage of the wedding planning process should couples contact you to discuss their decorating needs?
Once couples have secured their venue and begun envisioning their tablescapes, our team steps in to provide expert guidance on creating the perfect candlelight atmosphere. From advising on vessel combinations and candle quantities to designing layouts that complement the space, we offer tailored recommendations at every step. We encourage early bookings to ensure availability, but we remain committed to providing flexible, thoughtful solutions and personalised service that supports each couple’s unique vision.
What is the most unusual way you've seen your candles used?
Our candles currently feature in candle rituals offered by Sofitel hotels across Australia. Hundreds of our sand candles also lit up the ABIA Awards in Queensland and Perth recently, creating an unforgettable ambience, and in a wedding held inside a cave, we installed 150 sand candles and 100 LED tealights to achieve a breathtaking, subterranean glow.
