Describe your Wedding Venue.
Tucked away in the hills of Airlie Beach, Freedom Shores Resort is one of the most unique wedding venues in the Whitsundays. Serving up ocean-front luxury, our wedding packages include exclusive use of our stunning resort with boutique-style accommodation, your own private beach & lush lawn areas.
The resort itself offers a unique resort experience with spectacular ocean views from every room. Take over the entire 14-room resort with family and friends! Choose from our unique boat bungalows, larger resort suites or the famous Beach Shack with your own private beach & lawn area (also known as the honeymoon suite and ultimate ceremony location). We also have an on-site restaurant, the famous Northerlies Beach Bar & Grill - a local favourite and one of the biggest beach bars in the Whitsundays. Great for pre or post-wedding activities. Think island vibes on the mainland. With complimentary resort breakfast daily, lush gardens, and refreshing resort pool, enjoy the best of Airlie Beach luxury on your special day at Freedom Shores Resort. We do have a free courtesy bus from 11am - close every day for restaurant and resort guests.

Capacity depends on which marquee clients choose. Most packages include exclusive use of our 14 resort rooms - meaning you have the pool, deck and breakfast/reception area completely to yourself. Guests also have access to our private beach shack which is popular for ceremonies.

Tell us about your wedding spaces.
Freedom Shores Lawn - Expansive lawn surrounded by palm trees and beach shoreline on one side. Very versatile space with the option for a teepee, marquee, open-air ceremony. Onsite power and lighting for music, catering, etc & lots of space for the dance floor or photo booth.
Beach Shack - Set on your own private beach & smaller lawn, the Beach Shack is a popular spot for ceremonies as couples can get ready in the shack and set up the aisle on the lawn or beach. Lots of photo opps and spots for post-ceremony drinks too!
Northerlies - This is our on-site restaurant which has live music every weekend. We also have a Thatched Beach Hut which suits casual, cocktail receptions. It's set right on the beach with surrounding dining areas open to the public.
Shangri-La Deck - The small deck across from the resort pool is a great place for pre-wedding cocktails and recovery breakfast
What sets you apart from other beautiful wedding venues?
Freedom Shores is one of the most unique venues in the Whitsundays. It offers both the secluded tropical island feels (on the mainland) plus the beach vibes! We are famous for our sophisticated nautical theme & boutique-style boat bungalows & private beach shack. The Private Beach Areas are another unique selling point.
What do you love about weddings?
We love being involved in a couple's special day! Weddings have a great buzz and energy. Our resort is small and our staff are like family. They make our guests feel at home and enjoy offering an intimate, luxury experience. We also love showing off our area :)
What's your advice to couples planning a wedding?
Our two top tips would be to ensure your venue has an experienced wedding planner who knows the space and the area. We also ALWAYS recommend a wet weather plan.
What was a stand-out wedding at your venue?
We recently had a wedding on the Freedom Shores lawn with the most incredible fireworks display and a killer dance floor!
