Why do we almost always see flowers at weddings?
It’s challenging to envision a wedding devoid of floral elements, and this association has deep historical roots. While contemporary appreciation of flowers is heavily linked to their aesthetic allure, the connection between flowers and weddings dates back through the ages.
In ancient times, flowers played a crucial role in wedding celebrations, serving both practical and spiritual purposes. Brides carried, and decorated with, posies of aromatic herbs and flowers, not only to embellish themselves and their surroundings, but also to mask body odours and ward of illness and any perceived negative influences.
The rationale for our fascination with wedding flowers has evolved, but floral arrangements remain firmly embedded in the traditions of modern-day wedding celebrations and, for most couples, floral bouquets, buttonholes and arrangements are an essential part of wedding day decorating.

How was this list of Queensland's best Wedding Flower Designers determined?
At ABIA Weddings, it is important to us that all wedding couples plan their special day with confidence, based on the recommendations of recently-married couples and their own real experiences. So, this list is solely based on the feedback of real customers who rated and reviewed for their wedding flowers in the prestigious Queensland ABIA Wedding Awards.
Of particular note, this list is not a compilation of businesses with the most Instagram followers, or those who paid to get their name on a list.
Since 1996, ABIA have asked newlyweds to rate their wedding vendors out of 100% for:
- Quality of Product and Experience
- Quality of Service and Communication
- Value for Money
- Attitude of Staff and Friendliness
The Queensland floral designers below are those that attained a combined rating of more than 95%, in order of achievement, and were announced as winners & finalists at the recent Queensland ABIA Wedding Awards.
