What to look for in a wedding photographer?
We could spend hour upon hour scrolling through the many pages of wedding photographers, and it's always difficult to know who to choose! You may want to consider:
Style
Many photographers are well-known for capturing images in a certain style. Think about the feel of your wedding and whether a particular photographer might be better for your wedding style.
Personality
Wedding photographers should be able to make you feel relaxed in front of the camera, so it's essential to find someone who can help you feel at ease. You may want to meet them beforehand so you can find out if you get along.
Location
Is your chosen photographer based within your area, or are they willing to travel?
Photo ideas
If you have any particularly notable photo ideas for your wedding day, can they help you to achieve it? Be forward and make your photographer aware of these before you hire them.
When you've shortlisted some photographers, it's also worth thinking about:
- The packages they offer
- Whether or not they're good at communicating
- Whether editing is included
- How the photos will be delivered (digitally or in an album, for example)

How was this list of Queensland’s best Wedding Photographers determined?
At ABIA Weddings, it is important to us that all wedding couples plan their special day with confidence, based on the recommendations of recently-married couples and their own real experiences. So, this list is solely based on the feedback of real customers who voted for their wedding photographer in the prestigious Queensland ABIA Wedding Awards. Of particular note, this list is not a compilation of businesses with the most Instagram followers, or those who paid to get their name on a list.
Since 1996, ABIA have asked real brides and grooms to rate their wedding vendors out of 100% for:
- Quality of Product and Experience
- Quality of Service and Communication
- Value for Money
- Attitude of Staff and Friendliness
The Queensland wedding photographers below are those that attained a combined rating of more than 95% in these categories, in order of achievement, and were announced as winners at the recent Queensland ABIA Wedding Awards.
