A simple guide on keeping your social media relevant and up to date

We know that social media is so much more than posting what simply amounts to advertising your products or services. Social media allows us to create posts that build awareness, humanise our brand and ask our followers to feel something (or buy something). Here are a few simple steps to help you enhance your social media game for ABIA’s campaign ahead.

1. Use Professional Photos of your products and services

We all know that social media images are a vital element of any post. People will tend to be drawn in by the image first and then decide if they will want to read more about your product or service.

Try to think about what draws you in when you are scrolling social media. Using relevant social media images allows you to earn attention, build loyalty, deliver information, and Improve engagement. When you stay constant and connect images with your marketing message, your brand will have more power.

2. Tell your story.

Who doesn't love a good story? Telling someone a story can have the powerful effect of getting them on board, as it causes the customer to turn the story into their own idea and experience. Involve customers in a brand story and they will engage. Introduce your team members and tell your followers how your brand started.

3. Be Consistent

It’s a no-brainer that in order to increase traffic, engagement, and followers, you need to be consistent with your social media. We recommend 3 Instagram posts and stories a week, 1 reel a month, and 1 Facebook post a week.

4. Now, plan your month ahead….

Schedule Posts on  Hootsuite, Later, or Socialpilot If you aren’t posting updates regularly, set up a social media editorial calendar with content ideas planned two weeks to a month in advance to help keep you on track and your content current.

What if you don’t have time to write new posts daily? Set aside 1 hour each week to write all of your updates, then use a scheduling tool like Later to schedule them for the week.

5. Use LOTS of visuals.

Couples love to see lots of photos. Be it on Instagram, Pinterest or another image-based platform, they like to imagine themselves getting married at that place or utilising those products or services. They imagine all of their ideas coming together. If you are seen to be posting different styles, there’s a strong chance that one of those styles is perfect for them.

If they can see that your venue/service is able to cater for this then they’ve pretty much already decided they want to book you before they’ve even contacted you!  Be sure to add video content to your social media repertoire, consumers (especially next gen) expect (slash demand) brands to deliver engaging, entertaining content on social media more than ever before, and video is one of the most effective formats to do so.

6. Link & Share the BAG competition

There’s no point in having a page with lots of likes but no one is interacting with it. Why not let (or remind) your followers that you are participating in ABIA’s National Wedding Competition. Let your followers know that they can enter for a chance to win $10,000 in wedding cash to put toward their big day. Ask your followers how they would spend the money and whether you can help them bring their wedding dreams to life. This will also give you a chance to reach new people. Be sure to use the correct hashtags to create as much traction as possible #winwithabia

Why not focus on 1 of these ideas to build engagement this week. Be sure to not only use social media as a branding tool but to effectively stand out and keep customers engaged and interested. It’s never too late to build your brand, attract more followers, and get noticed. Most importantly, have fun with it... You've got this! 😊
